After a storm tore a ton of shingles off our roof, I searched for a local company around my town. I called Active Masonry & Construction on a Saturday morning, and Pat picked up right away and was able to clearly explain the process and provide a straightforward quote that even a new homeowner like me could understand. His people showed up within a couple hours – to my pleasant surprise – and they were able to make the repairs before my husband even got home from work. They answered all my questions, and explained the shoddy workmanship that caused the shingles to fall off in the first place. They cleaned up everything well, too. Great communication and quick service. Much appreciated and we’ll call them again!

Had a crack in my foundation with water coming thru, I needed it sealed before the next day as I had drywall coming and Pat came over to my house at 8pm and got it done. I was very greatful and would recommend Active Masonry & Construction to anyone.

I’m mad I didn’t call earlier! Every other contractor I spoke with told me my steps were beyond repair. They all asked for a ridiculous amount to completely demolish the stairs and rebuild them. When I reached out to Active Masonry & Construction they responded the next day, came out to give me a very reasonable quote, the steps were completely restored by the next week. I am very happy with the results and the entire experience I had with them.

What I like best is how Pat was very patient with me to educate me on what I needed done so I could make the best decision on how to proceed with my chimney repair. As a female home owner and knowing nothing about chimney work, I first enquired about them of the past work they did for few of my neighbours and even reached out to other chimney repair companies and felt Active Masonry & Construction would get the job done perfectly. My chimney liner needed to be put in along with brick repair. I’m very pleased with the work they did on my chimney!

I received a few quotes from fencing companies. My husband and I decided to hire Active Masonry & Construction. The quotes I received from the different fencing companies were pretty similar as far as cost but we decided to go with Active Masonry & Construction because they were the only company that seem enthusiastic about getting our business. The other companies, which have been in business a lot longer than Active Masonry & Construction, never even bothered with any form of follow up communication after they gave me the quote. Pat however, was great at communicating with me throughout the process and was great at addressing my questions or concerns about my project. The workers were efficient and after completing the installation of my fence and gate, they made sure they left my yard pristine. Wilfredo, who is one of the salesperson, came over to help the workers to make sure the work was completed in one day. He even took it upon himself to fix a gate that was not part of our project which he noticed needed a simple repair. The fence and gate they installed looks absolutely wonderful. I am so pleased!

Pat and the team were top notch the entire way through this process. Pat answered all of my emails and calls quickly, he came out to meet me twice before we accepted the proposal, and was always available for all of my questions. The installers of my patio were incredibly fast and they did an outstanding job. It turned out even better than I expected. I now have added patio space, irrigation, and beautiful plants! I have been in the property management business for many years, and have done over a dozen remodels. I have very high expectations for contractors, and this team blew me away. They were efficient, professional, and excellent. Would 1000% percent recommend.

We worked with Active Masonry & Construction for a total overhaul of a side lot next to our home. From design, to budget questions, to scheduling, install, quality check, to helping with next steps on how to take care of our yard, Pat and everyone I worked with was amazing. I contacted Active Masonry & Construction after researching all the companies in the area. They were incredibly professional and friendly from my first contact on. They came out and looked at the old basement (1906) which I knew was difficult because of its many levels, parts open to the outside and my low-lying property. They gave me the price to completely redo the basement and then worked with me to bring it into my budget. The workmen were incredible, telling me exactly what they were doing and why, digging outside drains and then laying the garden back exactly the same, and no surprises. It has only been a week, the pumps are doing what they are supposed to do, and I’m very very happy. They are the best. I wish I had photos.

Active Masonry & Construction’s estimator and workers were professional and respectful. Their workmanship was excellent and they cleaned up very well after the job. They straightened our bowed wall and installed the vertical I-beams. They also waterproofed 2 walls and part of one wall containing our glass sliding doors. “Active Masonry and its team” totally rocks. Got chimney repair quotes from several other companies & then googled what the items cost. “They” seemed to only charge for their time and was 1/10 the cost of the big time/long time in biz who sent the scariest email with estimate!!!!! They are super busy but made time for my “emergency”. They are great at multitasking and in true emergency will get back to you, even in the middle of the night. Super honest, super competitive and a super hard working guys! They are so good that if my worst enemy needed chimney work, I’d send over them. They are seriously good!

I just hired Active Masonry and Construction last week. This company is aptly named, the owner is very active & responsive. My 100 year old house in Warrenville needed tuckpointing and a leak into basement repaired. Leak most likely due to seam where brick & cement block wall needed patching. They responded to my call same day, came out & gave me an estimate next day and completed the job a few days later when my scheduled allowed. Fast efficient work. They also repaired crack in my front step and sealed that. Repairs in morning, rain that night, no leak. Very satisfied with their work. Reasonable price. I highly recommend this company.

Our basement outside stairwell developed a few huge cracks over the years. We chose this company specializing in steps repair in Chicago to do the replacement based on their outstanding rating. We were not disappointed. Active Masonry & Construction quoted a good price and completed the work in one day although we were told that the job would likely take two days. I would highly recommend this company without reservation.

They came over to give us a quote for tuck pointing and rebuilding a stone wall in the front of my house. It was about what I expected. However, when the guys who came to do the work came over I was blown away. Not only were they friendly and courteous, they were the hardest workers I have ever seen. They were really down to earth guys. The owners made sure everything was just perfect. They also cleaned up after they finished the job. I was so impressed that my mom got her house tuck pointed too and we also had additional stone work done in the backyard. Usually dealing with people in the construction trades is sometimes aggravating but this was actually pleasant. If I could give them more stars, I would. My three-flat brick condo building hired Active Masonry & Construction this summer. They did extensive grind-and-tuckpointing on three sides of our building. They also replaced a limestone front step. I’ve worked with a lot of contractors on building projects over the years. I was impressed by Active Masonry & Construction. I love that they are quick to pick up the phone to explain something. The team did excellent work and was pleasant to interact with. Also, when the limestone for the front step wasn’t a correct match, I was impressed by their immediate steps to fix it. Overall, Active Masonry & Construction did excellent work and was very easy to work with. I would absolutely work with them again.

The crew did an extremely nice job with a variety of different masonry issue we were facing … a window frame that needed to be rebuilt, cracks, efflorescence, and many more. They took care of the work with very high quality, were much cleaner than I’d expected, matched the brick and mortar nicely, and overall just did a standout job. I had no issues trusting them inside my home when I left for work. They also didn’t nickel and dime at all, doing a little extra work that was outside the initial quote. The stone foundation of our 1860s house in oak park had some big gaps in the joints that were allow pests to infiltrate into our basement, and in general was not in great shape. Active Masonry & Construction came out and quickly gave us a very competitive quote for re-pointing the entire foundation, and replacing some crumbling stones. The team was very professional, and made quick work of grinding out all of the old joints, re-pointing them, and replacing the broken stones. Was a great experience working with Active Masonry & Construction & Team and we’re very happy with the results!
